Son of Yehudit and Moshe, and brother to Anat, Adar, and Matan. He was born on 7 March 1976 (5 Adar II 5736) in Tel Aviv and later grew up in Ramat Hasharon.
In early April 1995, Haran enlisted in the Israeli Navy. He served in the Shayetet (naval commando unit) for approximately nine months before transferring to the Oketz Unit.
On the evening of 4 February 1997 (28 Shevat 5757), the Helicopter Disaster occurred, when two Yas’ur helicopters collided over the community of Sha’ar Yishuv. Seventy-three soldiers en route to an operational mission in Lebanon were killed, including Haran. He was twenty-one years old at the time of his death.
Staff Sergeant Haran-Eliezer was laid to rest at the Kiryat Shaul Military Cemetery. He is survived by his parents, sister, and two brothers.
