Son of Tal and Hagit, older brother to Shira and Michal, and a partner.
David was born on 10 May 2003 (8 Iyar 5763).
In November 2022, he enlisted in the Oketz Unit, completing four months of basic training followed by nearly a year of combat training as an attack dog handler before entering combat during the Iron Swords War.
When the war broke out, David was determined to fight alongside his friends and fellow fighters despite still being in training. Through sheer perseverance, he became one of the first soldiers in the training company to reach operational status and entered combat in the Gaza Strip with his dog Sitka.
Staff Sergeant David Sasson fell during an encounter with terrorists in the southern Gaza Strip, in the Qatari neighborhood, on 6 March 2024 (26 Adar I 5784). He was twenty years old.
He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya. He is survived by his parents and two sisters.
Throughout his service, David was a leading and influential figure, inspiring many around him and pushing for excellence. His comrades described him as a person with “superhuman abilities” who, once set his mind on something, would not stop until he achieved it.
